Back to Normal (whatever that is)!

The mid-term elections are over, have been for almost a week. All the politicians need to shut up and get to work now. Oh yes, and instead of being bullies about repealing health care, why not put jobs as the top priority?
Now I can get back to the issue at hand. . .writing. Am working on two short stories for possible entry in a contest. I don't usually do that, but thought it might be a good incentive for myself. Will preview them here (or at least the one I enter) in the coming weeks!

AAAAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK! Politics!

This year's mid term elections are almost here, thank goodness! I am so sick and tired of the "cut throat" ads and the local journalists who fall right into it. Unfortunately, here in GA the candidates are among the poorest excuses for candidates we've had in a long time. Makes me ashamed to live here. The important issues are being ignored and what seems to be more important is a candidates past. I know we've always had to have some of this, but this year is worse. Neither party is better than the other. And the tea party is just blah, blah, blah; a sounding board and publicity venue for a couple.
Someone, do something! Save us from ourselves!

Venting!

Hate to do it, but I have to vent. . .the state of the economy, job market is awful. A person my age (late 50's) has virtually no chance of being hired. I would love to be able to make some extra money in order to live somewhat comfortably and even come off of assistance. But it is impossible. Writing takes time and lots of it. Not so much for the creative process, but the selling process.  So I march on, determined not to let all of this mess bring me down. I will prevail!

Inspiration

Where does one find inspiration? In other authors is one place for sure! I had been sitting in a rut the past week or two. That all changed Friday, October 1st when I watched Oprah's (and I'm not a huge Oprah fan) interview  the author of the Harry Potter books. Now she might be something the majority of us will never become, but her tenacity is surely an inspiration to us up and coming writers! The interview put some much needed fire under me to finish not only some articles I'd been working on, but my "novel" as well!
If we look long enough we'll all find our inspiration!

Week of Writing and Knitting

This has been a busy week, to say the least! I finally received more yarn for a cardigan I am making. Seems none of the local yarn shops carry it, so I have to order it through the manufacturer and wait for it to come in the mail.

Writing wise, it has also been a busy week. I'm working on two short stories I am going to enter in a short story contest. I'm finished with one of them, and the other just needs some tweeking. Short stories are not my forte, but I'm learning. I have one manuscript I have been feverishly working on has almost 100 pages done. Whoo hoo!! Some days it flows like water, other days it comes slow as molassas!

My one tidbit, if you get writers block, work on something else for a while!

Happy writing! Happy knitting!

Week-end

It is a beautiful fallish like week-end. A great time to sit and write. I'm working on one manuscript in particular quite fevorishly, trying to finish it. I usually try to devote several hours a day to writing, but today, with the weather, it is quite inspriational as my story timeline is going into fall (quite by accident).

What do you do if you get "writers block" and can't continue? I found by keeping more than one manuscript going I can move to another if the one I'm working on stumps me. That way I've always got something to work on, so I can continue the process.

As for my other projects, knitting for one, I have started a beautiful sweater (cardigan) in a beautiful shade of light blue. I love the yarn! It's cotton with cashmere. Very easy to work with. . .

Enjoy the week-end!

Welcome!

Today is the first day of "Just Do It!" This is going to be a blog on creating, writing, and anything else we can do.
Creative: whether it be knitting, jewelry or writing, it will be posted here. I have been a knitter for years. I enjoy knitting and lerning new techniques. Right now I am working on a sleeveless top from Vogue Knitting, my first Vogue project.

Writing: I love to write. I've always written, but my life has never allowed me the time or opportunity to get serious about it. I'm at that point now, where I can be. Not being able to hold a regular job, writing is a way I can make extra money and keep myself sane. I now allow myself several hours a day to write. I have several manuscripts either finished or in progress. If I get stuck on one, I go to another, so I always have something to work on. From time to time I'll post a portion of something I'm working on.

I encourage comments, suggestions, etc. This is a way to interact with other writers and creaters
